Hi, I’m Shawn Downs — I’ve Been Protecting Black Hills Homes Since 1990

I started Downs Roofing over 35 years ago because I saw homeowners getting taken advantage of. Bad materials. Inflated prices. Contractors who disappeared when something went wrong. I knew I could do better — and I knew the Black Hills deserved better.

Every job I take, I ask myself one question: would I put this on my own house? If the answer is no, we don’t do it. That standard has never changed in 35 years and it never will.

We’re not the cheapest option in the Black Hills. We’re the ones who show up, do the job right, and are still here when you call us five years later.

Tristin grew up watching his dad build a reputation one roof at a time. He didn’t just inherit a business — he inherited a standard. The same honesty, the same attention to detail, the same commitment to doing the job right.

Today Tristin runs jobs across Spearfish, Rapid City, and Sturgis. He manages jobs, handles estimates, and makes sure every project meets the same standard Shawn set in 1990.
